Rotary Youth Exchange – Exchange Student 2008/2009
Andrew was selected for a unique one-to-one Rotary Youth Exchange scholarship between Rotary International District 6650 (Salem Club) and Rotary International District 4650 ( Clube de Joinville-Leste). After earning an accelerated high-school diploma, Andrew spent his senior year engaging in a cultural exchange as a global citizen in Southern Brazil. While abroad Andrew learned the native language, portuguese, discovered rich Brazilian culture, developed leadership skills, and built lasting friendships with people from around the world.

“Community service has been a passion of mine since high-school. I grew up in an underprivileged family and participating in high school service clubs not only kept me out of trouble, but also exposed me to a world of friendship, giving and opportunity. Looking back, there were many obstacles in my life that would have prevented me from the accomplishments I have achieved if it were not for community resources, scholarships and service organizations. I grateful for the opportunity to serve the Rotary Club of Cuyahoga Falls. This opportunity enables me to give back to those in the community who need help, especially LGBTQ youth!”
